Holiday Cottages in Blockley
If you’re a fan of honey coloured Cotswold homes, you’ll love a Blockley holiday cottage. Unlike most villages in this neck of the woods there’s an extra golden hue about the place. The busily babbling brook that tumbles through Blockley was once at the heart of a thriving silk industry feeding six silk mills. Industry today is in the form of locally manufactured motorbikes and sidecars some of which most famously featured in the penultimate Harry Potter movie. Additional fame is lauded on the area courtesy of the Father Brown series.
Surrounded by lush farmland, this now peaceful village is the perfect place to find a bolthole for a Cotswold short break. There’s an inherent romanticism about the place with its quintessential village green, impressive Norman church and Mill Dene Gardens down School Lane. Cotswolds days out are in abundance from Blockley. A round walk will lead you to Batsford Arboretum and its 55 acre botanical garden, and a short drive to the Cotswold Cheese Company will fill you up until dinner.
